Here is a small sample of places to visit in the North Wales area, with some links to websites with more information The location is a good base for exploring North Wales, offering fishing and water activities at Lakes Bala and Brenig. Llangollen lies 7 miles to the east of Carrog. Here visitors can enjoy the Llangollen steam railway (which runs between Carrog and Llangollen), the horse-drawn barge trips along the Llangollen Canal. Llangollen is famous for it’s annual International Eisteddfod held in early July each year and in September hosts a hot-air balloon festival. There are also a number of excellent pubs and restaurants. Corwen lies 2.5 miles to the west of Carrog The North and West Wales coasts are approximately 1 hour away by car. The Roman city of Chester is approximately 30 miles away. North Wales has a number of castles and historic places to visit, including Caernarfon and Conwy Castles
Wrexham, approximately 20 miles away, is the home of Erddig Hall (National Trust), FarmWorld, St Giles Parish Church (one of the seven wonders of Wales). Chirk Castle is approximately 15 miles away, this is a National Trust property.
